Ukrainian-born Spartz, criticized for Ukraine votes, faces primary fight Tuesday

Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) — the first Ukrainian-born member of Congress — is fighting to hold onto her seat Tuesday against a well-funded primary challenger who has criticized her record on aiding her homeland in its war against Russia.

Spartz faces a crowded field of Republican opponents after she reversed her decision to not seek another term and reentered the race earlier this year. Indiana state Rep. Chuck Goodrich has stood out, self-funding his campaign with at least $4.6 million and attacking Spartz as a flip-flopper — first on her reelection plans and then on Ukraine aid.
